Great Teacher Blog Site

I was searching for blog uses in the classroom and came across a teacher that uses blogs extensively in his 5th grade classroom. I haven't researched the entire site, but I was extremely impressed with his use of blogs in the classroom. I especially like his idea of using blogs for a novel study of the book "Holes" I will do more research on his site, but it is definitely worth checking out. Listed below is the link.

  1. That is a great source to see a teacher using a blog actively. I noticed that the comments need to be approved by the blog leader, which seems to be the standard with school blogs. I wonder how often the students check it and post comments? Is there a way to check that on the blog I wonder?

  2. Jenna, that is a good question. My students are on the blog in school once or twice a week. I use it as an instruction tool like a textbook or worksheet. Typically I use it as an assessment tool to see how well my students are learning the material in class.

As far as comment moderation goes, I don't see this on most teacher blogs, but I am a big advocate. I feel I have a responsibility to keep my blog as safe as possible for my students and this is a huge step in that direction. I do occasionally get inappropriate comments that my students won't have to see.

Ryan, thanks for the nice comment about my blog.
